About OffshoreCasinos

A consumer-advocate look at offshore gambling, written for US players.

OffshoreCasinos exists because the most-searched questions about online casinos in the United States are often answered by the people with the most to gain from a particular answer. Search for offshore casinos and much of what comes back is marketing written to move players toward sites no US state has licensed. This site takes the opposite job: it explains what offshore casinos are, what the law says about them, what a player gives up by using them and where legal, state-licensed play is available.

Who runs this site?

The site is published by OffshoreCasinos Ltd. Articles are researched and written by the OffshoreCasinos Editorial Team. We do not attach invented personal bylines or stock-photo “experts” to our pages. The team’s work is judged by what it publishes, and every page is meant to be checkable against the primary sources it relies on.

What does the site actually cover?

  • Offshore licensing: what a Curaçao, Anjouan or Kahnawake licence is, and what it is not.
  • Federal and state law: UIGEA, the Wire Act and its 2011, 2018 and 2021 turns, and state laws that penalize players.
  • Consumer protection: fund segregation, game testing, dispute routes and self-exclusion, compared side by side.
  • Money and tax: why payments fail, why crypto payouts carry extra risk and how 2026 federal tax rules apply to gambling winnings.
  • Game maths: house edges and return figures for craps, video poker, baccarat, roulette and live dealer tables.

Why does a site called OffshoreCasinos recommend only licensed play?

Because that is where the evidence points. A foreign licence does not authorize any operator to serve players in a US state. Offshore sites have no US regulator, no US-enforced fund protection and no link to state self-exclusion lists. The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center warned consumers away from illegal offshore casinos in December 2025. Recommending such sites would mean recommending a product with no enforceable safety net, and we will not do it.

What we can do is answer the search honestly. People arrive here asking about offshore casinos; they leave knowing the legal position, the practical risks and the seven states (with Maine pending) where online casino games are legally available to players aged 21 and over.

How is the site funded?

We may earn a commission when a reader signs up with a state-licensed operator through a link on this site. That arrangement and its limits are set out on our affiliate disclosure page. Commissions never buy a listing, and an operator without a licence from a US state regulator cannot be listed at all. How we assess operators is described in our editorial policy.

What are the ground rules for readers?

This is an information site. Nobody can gamble on it, and nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. Gambling law differs between states and changes often, so availability and legality vary by state. Real money online casino play in every legal state is limited to people 21 or older who are physically located in that state.
